While engaged in overly-playful reindeer games, Santa Claus broke his leg. Now it is up to his daughter, Tabitha, to deliver the Christmas presents.
Tabitha has never been interested in the family business and would much rather run her own consulting business based out of Chicago. She is even less interested in marrying some nice young boy to take over as Santa, but there are some nice (and perhaps a few naughty) women she finds more intriguing.
It all comes to a head when Allison catches Tabitha in her role as Santa.

The Emergency Claus is a super fun, bite sized holiday tale about Santa’s daughter, Tabitha. Tabitha doesn’t live at the North Pole with her parents and the elves. Instead she works as a consultant in Chicago, at least until she’s informed that her father broke his leg and won’t be able to deliver the presents. Tabitha is now Santa, so she dons the suit, readies the reindeer, and with a lot of magic she’s on her way. Things are going according to plan until the impossible happens: an adult sees her delivering presents!
I thought The Emergency Claus was so cute and fun. There’s a few laugh out loud moments and one scene where I almost cried. Tabitha is a reluctant Santa, but she’s sticking to the rules, so even though the unexpected adult Allison is attractive, Tabitha can’t let her remember anything. That’s not really up to her though, because there’s other magic at work! There was a super cute twist, and in general I liked the way all things Santa-related were explained. My only disappointment was the ending! It’s an open one, and while it’s obvious what comes next, I really would have liked to have seen it happening!
The Emergency Claus is a great novella for getting into the holiday mood, or if you just want a quick, cute, magical Romance. Don’t expect too much kissing though, because it’s mostly just about Tabitha and Allison meeting rather than any relationship development. I still enjoyed it a bunch though and it left me smiling. Just imagine The Santa Clause 2, but with lesbians.
